As we are emerging from the spring season of blossoming flowers into the summer season of warmth and fun in the sun, we are now afflicted with the problem we face year… after year… after year: rising gas prices. Oddly, rising gas prices has become so synonymous with summer, it defies logic as to why the American people continue to be shocked and appalled by this annual occurrence. The issue of gas prices in America is endemic of how short term and political expedient solutions are proposed to satisfy an electorate that accepts these solutions.

This will be my last blog prior to the November 2nd election. In the sprit of the talking-head punditry, I will make a final prediction and ramble about propositions facing California. First and foremost, where are we at on the national level? The national election is clearly being motivated by an anti-incumbent, economic-driven anxiety. The sentiment has resulted in most incumbents fighting for their life.

As most have already heard, the courts have started to move one of the most profound civil right issues of our generation. Just last week a judge ruled that the dismissal of Margret Whitt from the U.S Air Force on the grounds of Don't Ask Don't Tell was actually counter to the intent of Don't Ask Don't Tell. The judge in this case determined that kicking Margaret Whitt from the Air Force would have a larger impact on the unit cohesion and moral than would actually allowing her to serve openly in the U.S Air Force.

I recently went on trip to the Temecula Wine Valley in California. The Temecula Wine Valley is located about 90 miles north of San Diego. In between sipping on wonderfully inspired Zinfandels and Italian inspired wines, I took a moment to leap into the world of the Temecula Valley regional newspaper simply named the “Valley News.”
At first glance, it was not much different than your typical community weekly.

The Los Angeles Times has recently entered the headlines as the new maker versus news reporters. The Times’ new report on student test scores is simply another example of traditional news sources being interested in conducting sensationalist journalism opposed to remaining the standard barer of responsible traditional journalism.
